I've been alive for nearly 34 years, this past one being the most exciting/cathartic that i have experienced.
I have always accepted evolution, and this was solidified at uni with Microbiology and Advanced Genetics, but I felt that i couldn't 'back myself up' if i was asked to defend myself.
On my 33rd birthday I joined the millions that are owners of an iPod. This tiny device has opened up a world that has seemingly been hidden from me all these years. The word podcast suddenly meant something, so I started looking...
Before my 33rd birthday i had probably heard the word 'skeptic' a handfull of times, since then I have found my 'group', the place in society to which I fit.
Sorry if i'm all over the place, but this is yet another exciting step on my skeptical road.
SkeptiCol
It's surprising how often that version of events happens. The advent of the portible digital media player has done wonders for the skeptical movement. It would be interesting to see a chart over time showing active skeptics, podcast download growth and digital media player ownership. :)
The downside though is that the proponents of Woo-woo are using the tech too. I wonder if they're using it as effectively though? Are there podcasts out there that have a similar sort of following as SGU? Are "they" getting organised in the same way that the skeptical community is?
These may be things that could be of interest for the show.
Good to have more keen skeptics aboard. Now on to conquering the world!
